I get my inspiration from multiple places. Such as photography, books/comics, art galleries, and movies/TV.

Any hobby tips or cheats to share?

What other creative outlets do you use (music, canvas art, etc)?
My other creative outlets- music and photography.

Are you a gamer as well as a painter?
Yes I am a gamer as well as a painter.

What’s your game of choice?
Game system of choice – Guild Ball.

What game systems do you play?
Currently D&D, Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, 30k, Warmahordes, Guild Ball, Blood Bowl, and Arena Rex.

What interests you about those games?
I have been doing gaming in general pretty much my whole life starting with video games and boardgames thanks to my grandfather. I started miniature gaming also in 1997.

What I like about tabletop games is that there is face to face interaction which is important especially since we live in an age where people only use technology to communicate. I like that skills such as strategy, critical thinking, and math are used. I also like that you can customize tabletop armies and teams to make them your own.

What is your favourite convention or event have you gone to?
My favorite convention has always been GenCon Indy. Eventhough I am always busy throughout the entire convention, that seems to be time that I see the most of my friends and where I share the hobby with the most people at one time.

Favourite gaming moment/war story?
I have a lot of different stories, but my favorite gaming moments were always spending days at the arcade playing video games with my Grandpa.

When you are not conquering the tabletop, what do you do? (Job, hobbies, etc.)
Aside from table top Wargaming:
I have owned Metalhead Minis- established in 2009.
I am also a professional photographer, alternative model, and restaurant trainer/manager.

Reclaim your hobby today!

I have been playing role-playing games and tabletop wargames for the better part of twenty-five years. In that time, I would like to think that I have developed an eye for awesome. And that is what I want to bring to you.

Do you remember a time when hobby magazines were about the hobby and all the elements that make up playing, painting and collecting? The Golden D6 aims to cover all the wonderfully varied and amazingly diverse aspects of this incredible hobby of ours. Our hobby, that we enjoy, has so very many facets and it’s all out there for you to find.

We have been granted access to information unlike another time in history. Games of an infinite variety spring up like weeds in the information superhighway, hoping to bloom into flower and spread.

And they’ve got the chance to.

In recent years, games like Warmachine, Malifaux, Frostgrave, Kings of War, Infinity and a plethora of others have sprung up. They gain a following and also have the vehicle to grow that following. It’s honestly fascinating. You can hardly swing a cat in Melbourne town without hitting some establishment or another that runs a board games night and wargaming clubs run regularly in your FLGS or independently.

Whilst forums have, to a greater or lesser degree, made way for social networks and blogging, there’s a LOT of cool stuff to have to sort through. Everything from converting Space Marines, painting techniques involving airbrushes, zenithal spray techniques, game reviews and product launches. You can’t hope to read it all in a day, or even a week.

The Golden D6 has been created to capture and inspire tabletop wargamers’ imaginations.

I look forward to hearing from you.

What’s in the Golden D6 Issue #10 – Chaos Knight Titan Ironfate

The Golden D6 Issue #10 features the following articles:

Issue 10 was all about looking at single miniatures finished by our beloved contributors. Straight out of your grim-dark-nightmares comes the stomp of Ironfate. The Chaos Knight from Thor is a sweet piece of work that is well checking out. Thor gets extra thanks for pulling this issue together for me.

What’s in the Golden D6 Issue #11 – Detail painting Death Guard tutorial

As usual, the Golden D6 looks at this amazing hobby of ours and some of the interesting things that gamers are doing. One of the things that always excites me about the gaming community is the willingness that people have to share their stories and information if you are willing to ask for it.

Let’s face it, we all love having a war story to share. And we’ve all got that one bit of advice that can make the difference to someone’s game or a technique that helps them paint better.

You’ll be surprised what you know that someone else doesn’t!

That’s why I’m putting together the Golden D6; to find the cool stuff out there and make sure you can see it!

The Golden D6 Issue #11 features the following articles:

From Issue #11 comes this awesome tutorial for taking a perfectly normal looking Space Marine and making turning it into a suitably grungy, dirty and downright gross looking Death Guard.
